How to Avoid Cockroach Infestation
Here are some tips to help you avoid cockroach infestations.
Understand Your Risk Factors
Cockroach infestations are less common in single-family dwellings. On the other hand, multi-family buildings tend to be more prone to cockroach issues, and often more severe infestations. One of the reasons for this is that any of the tenants’ may fail to identify the cockroach problem in it’s early stages. Additionally, roaches can spread from unit to unit with speed and ease.
Keep Aware of Your Surroundings
Cockroaches are most often found in kitchens and bathrooms in the early stages. Then, as the problem grows, it can spread to other areas. This includes all rooms, wall voids and in-between floors.

Cockroaches in Alberta
The most commonly found roach here and in most of the world is the German cockroach. The only positive aspect of this species is that unlike other breeds of roaches, the German cockroach female carries their young around in an egg capsule (ootheca) until just before they are ready to emerge. This means if you get to her soon enough, you can also eliminate another 30 or so cockroaches at the same time.
